CELEBRATE: Stoney Clover-Inspired Birthday Party!

We recently hosted a fantastic Taylor Swift birthday party for our daughter, and it was a huge success! The friendship bracelet-making activity, party favors, and decorations were all a hit with the guests. Many of you loved the mood board I put together, so I decided to start a series featuring different themed party mood boards. The next theme in the series is inspired by the popular accessories brand Stoney Clover. I adore the bright colors and elements of this theme and believe it would make for an amazing party. Let me share my concept for this Stoney Clover-inspired birthday party and provide some tips on how you can pull it off!

First, let me walk you through my party planning process. I always begin by searching for inspiration on Pinterest. For example, I might search for “8-year-old party theme” or “unique girls’ party theme” to get ideas. Check out some of the recent themes I found that I love:

This helps me find a starting point and gives me plenty of inspiration. Once I’ve decided on a theme I like, I head over to Etsy to find an invitation that matches the theme. I prefer to purchase an invitation template that I can customize myself using Canva. For the Stoney Clover-inspired birthday party, I found this invitation with all the bright colors and elements I was looking for:

After customizing the invitation in Canva, I download the file and send it to Staples for printing. One of the benefits of digital downloads is that you can purchase the template, personalize it, and send it to a printing service like Staples, all in the same day. In most cases, your order will be ready within a few hours. This convenient and efficient process saves you time and is often cost-effective. You can have professionally printed invitations in hand quickly and easily, without having to wait or spend a lot of money.

Now that the theme and invitation are set, let’s think about a fun activity for the party guests. This is one of my favorite parts of the planning process, and the kids always enjoy it. Since Stoney Clover is known for its embroidered patches, a great activity for this party would be to have both kids and adults decorate cute zip pouches or trucker hats (which are very on-trend right now) with an assortment of stick-on patches. This activity is not only fun but also practical, as the pouches and hats can be used by the kids even after the party. It’s a great way to incorporate the Stoney Clover theme and provide a memorable experience for the guests.

Balloons are an essential party decoration, and it’s easy to create a big impact without breaking the bank. I always recommend buying a balloon garland kit, which includes everything you need and doesn’t require expensive helium. The garland can be assembled a few days in advance, and I suggest investing in an automatic balloon pump/inflator, which can be found for under $20 and saves a lot of time. While the first time assembling a garland may take a bit longer, with practice, it becomes quicker and easier, and guests always love them. In addition to the garland, I like to supplement with helium-filled balloons that float around the house. The smaller kids enjoy grabbing them and running around, laughing as they float back up to the ceiling. Make sure to choose balloon colors that coordinate with the colors in your invitation to create a cohesive look. Balloons are a must-have for any party, so be sure to incorporate them into your celebration!

A balloon garland not only serves as a great decoration but also provides a perfect backdrop for photos. For this Stoney Clover-inspired birthday party, I found a customizable fabric backdrop that can be hung behind the garland. The backdrop features the birthday guest’s name and age, with the age designed to look like a giant Stoney Clover embroidered number patch in the corner. This adds a personal touch and helps tie everything together with the party theme. These small details make the party feel special and customized for the guest of honor.

When sourcing party supplies like plates, napkins, cups, and plastic ware, be sure to use your invitation as a color guide to ensure everything coordinates. I recommend opting for paper plates and disposable tableware for easy cleanup. For this Stoney Clover themed party, I found fun refillable drink pouches with smiley faces and straws included. The Dollar Tree offers affordable napkin options in various colors, and Amazon is a great resource for any other supplies you may need. It’s best to avoid Party City due to their higher prices. Make sure to get extra supplies in case additional guests show up. Any leftover disposable tableware can be used for future events, so it’s always a practical purchase. By using your invitation as a color guide and shopping wisely, you can create a cohesive, affordable, and memorable party that will impress your guests.

To finish off the party planning, let’s talk about party favors. The zip pouch decorating activity mentioned earlier doubles as a great party favor, as guests can take home their customized pouches. In addition, I suggest offering a snack that is friendly for those with allergies, a mini bottle of water or Prime, and stickers, which are versatile and can be found on Amazon or Etsy. Other popular favor options include chapsticks or lip gloss, bubbles, bath bombs, hair accessories, sunglasses, pompom pens, and keychains. Look for items that you can buy in bulk and split up amongst your guests. The possibilities are endless! The Dollar Tree is also a great resource for affordable party favor options. I love spoiling our guests and believe that party favors are a great way to extend the celebration and show gratitude to your guests for attending.
